The amount
From 1 July 2026 the statutory minimum wage for employees aged 21 and over is €14.99 gross per hour (it was €14.71 before). The amount is adjusted twice a year, on 1 January and 1 July, so check the current figure on the government website.
Gross and net
The minimum wage is a gross amount, before tax and social contributions. What lands in your bank account is lower. Your payslip (loonstrook) shows the gross wage, deductions and the net wage.
Younger workers
Lower minimum wages apply below age 21. Check the current rates for your age on the government website.
Check your payslip
- Is the hourly wage at least the minimum, and do you get what your contract and collective agreement say?
- Are hours and shifts correct?
- Is holiday pay included or built up?
- What is deducted, and why? If housing or insurance is deducted, it should be in your contract.
